Lumien welcomes Sarah Whitmore as Head of Workplace Wellbeing

We are delighted to share that Sarah Whitmore has joined Lumien as our new Head of Workplace Wellbeing. Sarah brings more than fifteen years of experience in occupational psychology and employee engagement, having previously led wellbeing strategy for a FTSE 250 financial services firm. In her new role, she will work closely with our product and customer success teams to ensure Lumien’s platform continues to reflect the latest evidence-based approaches to mental health at work.

Sarah says: “I have followed Lumien’s journey for some time and have always been impressed by how the team turns deep insight into practical, everyday tools. I am looking forward to helping more organisations embed wellbeing into the rhythm of their working week, rather than treating it as a one-off initiative.”

Her appointment comes at a key moment as Lumien expands its presence in the US and further develops its machine learning capabilities. Sarah will also host a series of client roundtables later this year focused on building psychological safety in hybrid teams.

Lumien check-ins now available directly inside Slack and Microsoft Teams

We are excited to announce a new integration that brings Lumien personal check-ins directly into Slack and Microsoft Teams. Users can now receive their regular check-in prompts, answer a few quick questions, and view their personal wellbeing trends without leaving the tools they use every day. This removes friction and helps teams build a consistent wellbeing habit.

The integration includes:

  • Configurable check-in frequency, from daily to weekly
  • Private, individual responses with aggregated team insights for managers
  • Gentle nudges that respect working hours and personal preferences

Co-founder Ben Skirth says: “We know that the best workplace tools are the ones that fit naturally into existing workflows. By meeting people where they already are, we make it easier for wellbeing to become part of everyday conversation, not an afterthought.”

Lumien publishes first Workplace Mental Health Pulse Report

We are proud to share our first Workplace Mental Health Pulse Report, drawing on aggregated, anonymous data from organisations using the Lumien platform across the UK and US. The report highlights clear trends in how employees are feeling week to week, including the times of year when energy and focus dip most sharply, and the factors that most strongly predict high engagement.

Among the key findings, 72% of employees said they would use a wellbeing check-in more often if it took less than two minutes, and teams with weekly check-ins saw a measurable improvement in reported mood over eight weeks. The report also explores how early intervention can reduce the need for more intensive support later.

A full copy of the report is available in our Resources & Downloads section, and we will be hosting a webinar to discuss the findings in the coming weeks.

Free mental health resources hub launched for small and medium businesses

Lumien has launched a free mental health resources hub designed specifically for small and medium businesses that may not yet have a dedicated HR or wellbeing team. The hub includes downloadable guides, templates for check-in conversations, and simple policy examples that any team can adapt quickly.

We know that SMEs often face the same wellbeing challenges as larger firms but with fewer internal resources. This hub is our way of making high-quality, practical support accessible to every organisation, regardless of size or budget. New resources will be added each month, and all content is available without a Lumien subscription.

Visit the Resources & Downloads section to explore the first collection, including a guide to starting a conversation about mental health at work and a template for a team wellbeing action plan.
