How do you communicate your Wellness Action Plan

So you’ve built a wellness action plan for your organisation. Now, you need to consider how you will communication the outcomes to your employees.

A wellness report is a key factor in any effective corporate wellbeing strategy, and the communication of its outcomes is an important part to consider. There are numerous options for reporting back to your employees, but should you be treating the outcomes of your report in the same way you would other business matters? Here we analyse some of the most popular methods.

Email

Email may be an efficient method of communication within your business for the majority of corporate matters, however when it comes to employee mental health and the results of wellbeing analytics, email is not necessarily the ideal primary channel of communication. The contents of your wellness report can often touch on personal matters that will not only be delivered more authentically in person, but communication and approachability are also key components of a corporate wellbeing strategy and are better represented by establishing in-person channels of communication.

Written report

Writing up an easy-to-digest document based on the outcomes of your wellness report is a great way to communicate the results in a clear and succinct manner. This will help everyone understand the current level of employee wellbeing in your company and the main areas to focus on going forward. However, previous experience has shown that a written report is even better when used as an accompaniment to a meeting, offering staff something to take away from the meeting and reflect upon.

Meetings

Meetings are a thoroughly efficient method for communicating the outcomes of your wellness reports, at least initially. A meeting offers an opportunity to set an example of the open and honest values that wellness strategies set out to instil in your business, as well as offering a chance for staff to ask questions and delve deeper into the outcomes. However, with busy lives and conflicting schedules, it may not always be possible to conduct regular meetings, which is where monthly updates may come in handy.

Monthly updates

Monthly updates are a great way to follow up on wellness reports, especially after holding meetings for the initial first few months. Using monthly updates alongside another method of communication makes it easy for staff to stay up to date and it helps wellness reports integrate seamlessly into a routine.

In a busy company, it may not always be possible to get meetings booked in to review wellness reports, however, it is important that at least in the first month of establishing a corporate wellness program, you aim to make the time to talk about and review employee wellbeing. Meetings give employees the time to talk openly with managers about the outcomes, and it is helpful to give employees the chance to book in meetings for these discussions. Yet, once your wellness strategy is well-established, monthly updates and emails are a great way for you and your employees to stay up to date.
