Lumien win Innovate UK bid to accelerate it’s machine learning capabilities

Lumien are very excited to announce that they have successfully won an Innovate UK fast start innovation grant.

The grant will help accelerate Lumiens machine learning functionality for embedded mental health strategies in the workplace.

Ben Skirth, Co-Founder of Lumien stated:

“We are currently using machine learning to move towards a pro-active model for mental health and wellbeing. Identifying when individuals or populations may begin to struggle and suggesting small adjustments to reduce the negative impact of mental wellbeing to both individuals and teams before it occurs.

This project aims to improve the dimensionality of our data, therefore allowing more targeted analysis of mental wellbeing across populations.

This grant will allow us to build on our Knowledge Transfer Partnership that we have been working on with Aston University, adding additional functionality to the platform and bringing to life the core research developed”.

Lumien’s KTP has allowed academics from Aston’s College of Engineering and Physical Sciences to deliver the expertise needed to apply sophisticated ML to enhance functionality and deliver an advanced version of the Lumien platform at scale. This has enabled Lumien to provide an advanced offering, provide predictive data analysis of workplace mental health and deliver innovative software to improve productivity through preventive mental health strategies.

Dr. Christopher Golby, Co-Founder of Lumien added:

“It’s incredibly exciting to see the potential commercial implications of this project – it really will change how wellbeing and mental health is handled in the workplace, driving forwards a much more sophisticated method for providing support to those most in need”.

Work has now begun on the project, which is funded by funded by Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency.
